But I was worrying more about the latency while playing with a midi keyboard than about the loading time. Then, when you will load the instrument again, it will instantly going to load on the ram with the red, yellow & white light. The initial loading time can be removed easily by loading the instrument a first time, and then re-save it with kontakt by checking "patch only". both (initial loading and loading to RAM) will be much faster with an internal or eSATA SSD.īut if you don't mind that, you can definitely work with the 7200 RPM HDD without issues. until latency free playing is possible (white light). *I'm sorry if I didn't post this message at the right place.īoth ). (3) What about the SAMSUNG M3 1TO (or 2TO) external hard drive? It's a 5400rpm hard drive, will it, once again, affect the performances a lot if it's not a 7200rpm? ( ) Does the size influence the performances as well (smaller performances on a bigger hard drive)? (2) I thought about having an USB 3.0 external hard drive, 1TO or 2TO. (1) Will it affect significantly the performances? By performances, I mean, will it for example extend the loading time a lot? When the instrument is loaded in Kontakt, will the latency be significantly longer, even using the ASIO4ALL plug-in, and therefore become unplayable using a midi keyboard? I just have some questions about using those on an external hard drive: I've always been using my sound libraries on an internal hard drive, but I want to be able to stock & use them on an external hard drive and to be able to move them or to format my computer without worrying about my sound libraries.
